Social Studies Curriculum:
In the third grade, different communities around the world are researched and explored. Students are taught how to highlight key points and take notes on the material read. As information is gathered, students
are able to make inferences and draw conclusions about the land, natural resources, food, clothing, homes, jobs, education, transportation, and customs of each community studied. The communities are also compared and contrasted throughout the year as these four essential questions are addressed: 1) How are communities the same and different the world over? 2) How does geography influence a community? 3) What causes a community to change over time? 4) How is culture reflected in a community?
